Tranquil Chinese Stone Bodhisattva Head

About the Item

Exuding an energy of calm and tranquility, this larger-than-life stone bust depicts a Buddhist bodhisattva in serene meditation. A disciple of the Buddha, a bodhisattva is a compassionate being who has reached enlightenment but chose to remain on earth to provide guidance and protection to all. The bodhisattva wears an elaborate headdress of jewels and draped fabric, carved of solid limestone in a manner consistent with Chinese statuary, with a full moon face, downcast eyes and benevolent expression.
