A small Nantucket lightship gathering basket with sturdy wooden ears, and a convex interior bottom with thee concentric lines typical of a George Washington Ray (1814-1891) made basket, circa 1870-1880. Measures: 4 ¾”.

Nest of three Nantucket lightship baskets, the swing handles, staves and the ears ( which attach the handle to the basket) are all carved from oak.
