1950's Dino Martens For Aureliano Toso "Oriente" Murano Glass Bowl

About the Item

A 1950's Italian blown Murano glass bowl from the Oriente collection by Dino Martens for Aureliano Toso. The multi-color bowl has a rounded triangular shape and has copper applications across its body. Corrado "Dino" Martens (1894 - 1970) was an Italian painter and glass designer. A graduate of the Accademia delle Belle Arti di Venezia, Martens exhibited his painting in the Venice Biennale between 1924 and 1930. His association with Aureliano Toso began in 1939 after finishing his military service in Africa. A bold designer who respected the traditional techniques of Murano glass, Martens was constantly challenging the glass artisans with his audacious creations.
