About the Item
Designed by Eric Ravilious, one of England's great graphic artists and painters in the pre-war era, for Wedgwood's "Travel" line of table porcelains, this rare bowl shows an airplane soaring over an ethereal cluster of orbs, including the earth, the sun and a series of billowing clouds. Ravilious designed the Travel series in the 1930s, but the war's intervention preventing any larger production of the ware until the 1950s.
