Brutalist Art Pottery Bowl by Gorka Livia, 1950s

About the Item

Unique art pottery dish or plaque executed by the Hungarian ceramist Gorka Livia during the 1950s. It has a deliberately crooked - asymmetrical form and has a difficult to desire main-glaze: mint, turquoise, green, blueish. Its motif depicts 4 freely interpreted flying fishes in different sizes. This piece can be hung as a wall plaque as well. Its hand signed to its base by the artist. Measurements: D: 29, H: 5.5 cm.

Mid-Century Modern Decorative Plate by Hungarian artist Gorka Livia (1925-2011). This plate like all of her ceramics is hand thrown and has a freeform feel due the uneven shape of the vessel which is almost oblong. The color is mustard yellow decorated with two large stylized fish in black. Pisces? In the image of the back, it looks like dirty spots but is actually where the glaze was thinly applied and the clay color shows through.
