About the Item
Large and rare, vintage Murano hand blown red and amber color threads decoration with iridescent surface Italian art glass rooster shape sculptural bird bowl. Documented to designer Dino Martens for Aureliano Toso, and published in his book (see book photo). Created for the "Variegato" series, circa 1954, model number 5372, as shown the Dino Martens reference book. The rooster has applied red crest and beak, with gold leaf on the crest (see close up photos). It has a slight Aurene or iridescence throughout the surface of the bird bowl. The piece is heavy, made with thick glass. Would make a great display piece on any coffee table, credenza or dresser. Use it as a catchall, candy dish or display it as a sculptural piece. Midcentury era. Collector’s item! Measures: 10" tall x 7 3/4" long x 6 3/4" wide.
