About the Item

This large antique Hungarian dough bowl, is a striking example of early 20th-century rural craftsmanship. Hand-carved from solid wood around the early 1900s, the bowl measures just under one metre in length and was originally used for kneading and mixing dough in traditional kitchens. Now beautifully restored, it serves as a bold decorative accent—perfect for adding warmth, history, and texture to rustic, farmhouse, or modern interiors. The surface bears a raw, richly aged patina with visible tool marks, lending it authentic character and a timeless, tactile presence. Lovingly restored in the New Forest, England by our master restorer—who brings decades of expertise—the bowl has also undergone a traditional osmosis treatment to ensure cleanliness and long-term preservation, making it suitable for decorative use in any setting. Ideal as a centrepiece, display vessel, or sculptural element, this piece offers both beauty and provenance. Condition: Excellent antique condition with visible wear and patina consistent with age. Cleaned and treated using traditional methods. Structurally sound. Dimensions: Length: approx. 96 cm
