About the Item

A vintage Murano glass block bowl in a vivid pink hue, attributed to Italian glassmaker Alessandro Mandruzzato and dating to the 1980s. Handcrafted in Murano, Italy, this sculptural piece was made using the sommerso (submerged glass) technique—a hallmark of mid- to late-20th-century Venetian glass design. The bowl’s rectangular form is cast in thick clear Murano crystal layered over rose pink glass. Each surface is precisely faceted and polished, with chamfered edges that catch the light and accentuate the graphic lines of the design. This pink sommerso bowl reflects Mandruzzato’s signature faceted glass style, a sought-after form among collectors of vintage Murano art glass. Though unsigned by the maker, the bowl bears a hand-scribed “Murano” inscription on its underside—common among authentic Murano studio pieces from this period. A beautiful example of collectible Italian glass, this decorative block-form bowl presents in very good vintage condition, with no chips or cracks and all edges remaining crisp.
