Murano Glass Faceted Geode Dish in Red and Yellow Sommerso

About the Item

A vintage Murano glass, Mandruazatto sommerso dish, handcrafted in Italy in the 1970s. A colourful piece of Murano glass showcasing the 'geode style' crafted using the renowned 'sommerso' technique, which translates to 'submerged.' A skilled art glass process that involves layering two or more tones of glass submerged within one another. The result of this revered process results in a bold and colourful display of layers of glass. In this dish, a warm yolk-toned yellow glass is paired with a vibrant tomato-red glass. The combination of the colors create a beautiful and unique optical display, which is further enhanced by the finely polished diamond-shaped facets that finish the outside of this vide poche dish. The glass is in very good condition for its age and use. It is a wonderful piece to display on your coffee table, adding a rich depth of color and light; offering a display of fine Murano glass artistry.
