History and Origin: Qing Dynasty (1636-1912): Peking glass emerged and flourished during the Qing Dynasty. Imperial Workshops: The establishment of Imperial glass workshops in Beijing (then Romanized as Peking) in the late 17th century, particularly under the Kangxi Emperor (1662-1722), marked a significant advancement in Chinese glassmaking. European Jesuit missionaries played a role in introducing new glassmaking technologies to China. Peking glass bowls are not just decorative objects; they represent a fascinating blend of Chinese artistry, technical skill, and cultural history and these glass making techniques were produced well into the Republic of China period. (1912-1949)
