Turquoise Handblown Mid-Century Modern Scandinavian Art Glass Pedestal Bowl

About the Item

This vintage art glass pedestal bowl is unsigned but is presumed to have been made by the famous Swedish glassmaker Kosta Boda. It has the typical clean lines of a mid-century Scandinavian art glass piece and most likely dates from the 1950/60s. Handblown, the body is made from beautiful, turquoise colored glass while the pedestal base is made of solide, clear/transparent glass. Kosta glasbruk, later named Kosta Boda, was founded in the Swedish town of Kosta in 1741 and is one of the world’s oldest, still operating glassworks. Over the years, Kosta became Sweden´s leading glassworks and manufactured all types of glass, from simple bottles to luxury drinking glasses. This heavy, vintage glass bowl is in good vintage condition. No chips or cracks. Some small air-bubbles in the glass originating from the production process itself. Some light scratches on the surface consistent with age and use (see photos). Dimension: diameter top 17 cm/ 6 3/4", height 12 cm/ 4 3/4", diameter base 5.5 cm/ 2 1/4". Weight: 1192 g/ 2.63 lbs
