19th Century French Bronze Metal Overlayed Vanity Powder/Jewelry Glass Jar/Box

About the Item

This is a French bronze metal overlayed round glass hand painted vanity/powder jar. The glass jar is decorated with a pattern of pierced columns of flowers alternated with engraved leaves in a bronzed metal. A link of rings adorned with flowers in the center embellish the upper border. A hand painted portrait of an 18th century young lady enhances the center of the lid that is also decorated with an orange color guilloche inset panels and a relief of a garland of flowers. Below the metal base is inscribed France. The bottom of the glass jar is adorned with a starburst.
