Africanist Large Carved Wood Box, 1930s
About the Item
This stunning large orientalist decorative lidded box is from the French Art Deco period. The Africanist influence design boasts Macassar wood hand-carved faces on the lid. The rectangular shape is complimented with off-white Galalith rounded feet and an impressive carved wooden handle-finial. There is no visible maker's mark.
The box is in good condition, with one corner having a slightly opened edge, but not a structural problem with the box. The Galalith plaque on the front side shows a crack.
Measurements: 10.25 in wide (26 cm) x 5.13 in deep (13 cm) x 5.94 in high (15 cm).
