A rare and almost certainly unique 19th century castle decanter. Possibly Scottish. Circa 1870. The outer is made from plaster of Paris, with detailed texture, having wooden hand-painted lancet arched windows and front door, and featuring a central clock face and medieval crenulations. The exterior is in remarkably good condition, left untouched. The interior boasts leather dividers enclosing four square decanters with cut glass stoppers. A stunning, modern limited edition Russian Faberge 18ct gold box mounted on a detachable fitted four leg stand. The rectangular box has a hinged cover decorated with green guilloche enamels overlaid with rope twist trellising the joints to the cover mounted with diamonds and red rubies. The box has cut out corners which correspond with the matched stand. Both have impressed FABERGE marks along with 750 marks for 18ct gold and the box is numbered 39/100 and the stand 20/300. In 1990 Victor Mayer & Co was commissioned to resume manufacture of original Faberge objects.
