A distinguished lidded bronze box by silversmith Jacob Ängman for GAB (Guldsmedsaktiebolaget). Created in 1935, this piece exemplifies the refined aesthetic of Swedish Grace / Art Deco design.
Beautifully patinated with different shades of green and warm, metallic brown that has developed over nearly nine decades. The sculptural lion finial demonstrates Ängman's skill in creating functional objects that transcend mere utility.
The vessel bears an engraved inscription "11/4 1942" on one side, suggesting it was presented as a commemorative gift—a cherished Swedish tradition of marking significant occasions with fine metalwork. The box is properly marked with "BRONS," the GAB maker's mark, and model number.
