Early 20th Century French Repousse Brass and Wooden Firewood Box on Wheels

About the Item

Crafted in France, circa 1920, the antique wood and brass fireplace wood coffer stands on casters; the trunk is decorated with repousse tavern scene motifs in the manner of David Teniers on all four sides including the top and front; each scene features cheerful peasants siting around a table and drinking. The slant top with chain holder opens to inside storage. The small decorative trunk is in very good condition commensurate with age and use, and adorns the original rich patinated brass finish. Some blemish on the front (see pictures). Measures: 23.5" W x 16" D x 21" H
