Super chic veined marble and nickel-plated box. The bottom and top are 1/2" marble slab while the sides are nickel-plated metal. A handsome box to be sure.  

This rare Italian jewelry box, crafted in the 1960s, is made from white translucent marble and beautifully echoes the tradition of opaline jewelry caskets produced in Italy, Bohemia, and France between 1850 and 1920. Larger than most boxes of its kind, this hinged mid-century jewelry casket is both a decorative statement and a functional container for precious objects. It rests on elegant paw feet and is enhanced by finely detailed gilt metal mounts. The mounts are delicately ribbed and feature a continuous floral relief ornament, underlining the refined craftsmanship. The matte, slightly rough surface shows a few minor scratches but no chips or cracks. Unlike glass, marble reveals its natural veining and subtle color variations, which become particularly enchanting when sunlight shines through the stone.
