About the Item

A rich and elegant Japanese export red ginbari cloisonne trinket box, Meiji Period, circa 1900, Japan. The attractive Japanese cloisonne box features a striking textured red ginbari foil ground with subtle images of swimming carp. A clear enamel covers the surface highlighting and magnifying the ginbari ground. An image with a spray of roses in cloisonne enamel adorns one corner. The rose bloom of a beautiful blushy lavender and pink, and surrounded by leaves in shades of greens. A single bud rises above. The rims of a silvered metal. The hinged top opens to reveal an interior of silvered and textured metal. Overall a very attractive box.
