Late 18th Century George III English Box

About the Item

Late 18th Century George III English Box. Veneered in beautifully highly figured burled ash with small inlaid shield shapes. Made in England circa 1790. A beautifully crafted late 18th century George III box, made in England circa 1790. This elegant rectangular box is veneered in richly figured burled ash, prized for its dramatic swirling grain patterns and warm amber hues. The cover and front are adorned with delicate shield-shaped inlays, offering a subtle yet distinguished decorative detail characteristic of Georgian refinement. The box opens to reveal its original green felt-lined interior, suggesting its use as a writing, document, or personal valuables box. A fine example of English cabinetry from the period, it displays a handsome aged patina and the kind of handwork indicative of late Georgian craftsmanship.
