About the Item

A lovely example of a mid-19th century French Grand Tour perfume caddy. This gold-on-black hand-painted porcelain casket features a domed lid with a central hand-painted portrait of a lady. The lid and sides are adorned with a pretty floral design, and it stands on gilt brass feet. Internally, there is a gilt metal bottle cage holding two coloured glass scent bottles, both with their original stoppers intact. The circular lids are hand-painted with Parisian scenes. In good condition for its age, with no losses except for the small clasp at the front.
