About the Item
Rare Gorgeous Art Deco 1930s red traveling cosmetic case with fitted top section and empty bottom section to store your overnight needs. In the top corner, there is a label from Nelialee NYC. When you open it up, you will find a treasure of streamlined gold toned art deco accessories. The top section has a mirror and a comb held in place by red leather straps. On the other side, there is a brush, two matching glass bottles with brass lids, two matching glass jars, and one elongated bottle which is missing the glass section on the bottom. It has a brass Yale lock, but no key. I believe this set was barely used. The two short jars are filled with powder and [I believe] Vaseline. Everything else looks unused. The case has a cardboard box with some writing on it that it fits into perfectly.
Although the piece has some issues, from a distance these are barely detectable. It would be a perfect prop or display item and can be used for travel or storage. Please see description below due to lack of space at the bottom of the listing.
Condition:
Sadly over the years, some of the metal areas has turned green where the leather touched them. Elongated bottle (glass bottom missing) and snap detached on strap with extra piece that broke off which could possibly be glued. All metal pieces have some green tarnish–see photos. A bit of green dust on fabric near mirror. Two short jar lids have cracks possibly at the seam and green tarnish. One of the taller jars has a ding on top and both have green tarnish.
The case has two blemishes on the corners consistent with age–see photos. In addition, there are black scuff marks consistent with an antique piece.
