About the Item

A fine antique English tea caddy. In mahogany veneer with a pine secondary with a red wash. With a stepped, lift lid top, a rectangular body, and bracket feet. Mounted with a brass escutheon and brass handle. The lid is lined with an old wool liner. Together with an old key that fits (but does not function in the lock. Simply a wonderful George III tea caddy! Date: Late 18th or Early 19th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: Lacks one glue block. There is checking and light separation to the top panel of the box, an apparent old repair near the hinge on the reverse. There is some play in the hinges, which are slightly loose. Otherwise, there is some light edge wear, some light dings and indentations here and there, some fine and light surface scratches, and other signs of light wear consistent with age. Marks: Bearing an old sticker to the base. Measurements: Height: ca. 5 5/8 in. Width: ca. 8 1/2 in. Depth: ca. 4 1/2 in. Items purchased from this dealer must delight you.
