Another unusual feature is the fine Greek Key inlay to both the the lid and top.
The interior has two lidded compartments later covered in paper which can be seen in the photographs.
The front houses the tasselled key (unfortunately not working but the perfect finishing touch).

Quite possibly the largest and finest antique English inlaid rosewood monumental size Sarcophagus shape tea caddy we have ever procured. In mint condition, this caddy retains its exceptionally hand engraved brass inlay, rosewood exterior, with works of ebony within the corner scrolling volutes. The interior lids are original also retaining their exceptionally fine engraved brass inlays and the interior of each caddy box retains portions of its original foil lining. The center well has an extraordinary Anglo-Irish cut glass pedestal mixing bowl which may not be original but fits perfectly well (and is as receieved/purchased). The bottom of the caddy has its original bunn-shaped caddy feet...

A magnificent, fine and impressive pair of antique Georgian English sterling silver tea caddies - boxed; an addition to our silver teaware collection
These magnificent, fine and impressive antique Georgian silver tea caddies each have an oblong, bomb shaped form.
The surface of each antique tea caddy is embellished with impressive chased and embossed scrolling floral and foliate decoration, incorporating paralleling undulating borders framing each side.
The decoration to the body of each incorporates two cartouches, one displaying the contemporary engraved coat of arms depicting an oval escutcheon supported by a savage and a greyhound collared and chained, displaying firstly a stag's head and secondly three bars below three roundels.
The coat of arms bears the motto 'Data fata secutus' - Following the destiny allotted to me*.
These heraldic markings are surmounted with the crest of a mountain in flames, surmounted with the motto 'ÂLuceo non uro' - I shine, not burn*.
The cartouche to the opposing side of each caddy is ornamented with an impressive contemporary engraved crest of a greyhound courant.
