About the Item

This pair of giltwood French Empire period prickets or candlesticks was originally used on the altar of a church. They were hand-carved and exquisitely gilded on only one side as a means of economy for the Church. Two of the three legs feature carved lion paws and acanthus rinceau and palmettes complete the decoration on the stem. Perfect for adoration on any buffet where a touch of elegance is needed. An impressive height of 31", circa 1810.
