About the Item
Exceptional pair of French late 19th century brass candlesticks, aligning with Empire tastes like miniature columns from Persia or Egypt to add intriguing decoration to a mantel or table. Inspiration from exotic lands witnessed on the Grand Tour is evident as geometric textures around the column, with foliate and coin motifs fanning out around the bases rising to bulbous capitals just below the (removable) bobeche. Darkened with patina and verdigris that really defines every texture. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition. Sold as a pair.
