About the Item
A lovely pair of French early 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu candlesticks. Each candlestick is raised by a circular base with a fine mottled design and a most decorative wrap around bands with geometric patterns. Additional lovely rosettes separate the scrolled foliate movements. The central supports display most elegant baluster shapes with beautiful richly chased maidens draped in flowing garments amidst acanthus leaves in a striking satin and burnished finish. Above are fine foliate candle cups. All original gilt throughout.
