A rare and striking pair of brass “Bow” candlesticks, designed by renowned Swedish metalsmith Pierre Forssell for Skultuna, Sweden, in the 1960s. Minimalist yet sculptural, these modernist pieces reflect Forssell’s refined sensibility and are stamped with the Skultuna maker’s mark.
Pierre Forssell (1925–2004) was a pivotal figure in 20th-century Swedish design. Trained at Konstfack (Sweden’s University of Arts, Crafts and Design), he initially worked in silver before shifting to brass and other metals, where he found his true creative voice. Forssell joined the esteemed Skultuna Mässingsbruk in 1955 and remained there for over three decades, transforming the company's output with his clean, functional, and often architectural forms.
His designs are known for their restrained elegance and impeccable craftsmanship—bringing a sense of modernity and sophistication to traditional brass. Among his most celebrated works are candleholders, vases, wall sconces, and tabletop accessories.
