About the Item

An exceptional and rare pair of Renaissance bronze candlesticks, dating from the 16th century and likely originating from Bohemia (modern - day Czech Republic). Each candlestick features a finely turned shaft rising from a tiered, lobed base with pierced decorative elements and trefoil feet - a stylistic signature of Central European craftsmanship during the Renaissance period. The bronze has developed a warm, naturally aged patina, with surface wear and tool marks that reflect the authenticity and historic character of the pieces. One candlestick exhibits a stable hairline crack on the drip pan, which further confirms the age and hand-made nature of these pieces. These candlesticks are not only sculptural in their presence but also represent a rare surviving example of domestic or ecclesiastical metalwork from the Renaissance. Perfect for collectors of early European decorative arts or as striking focal points in historically inspired interiors.
