A Rare Pair of Early 18th Century Baroque Swedish "Pricket" Candlesticks. Nice Proportions- each retaining the original painted decoration and gilding. Made in Sweden circa 1710. A striking pair of early 18th-century Baroque pricket candlesticks, crafted in Sweden circa 1710. Each piece is boldly carved in wood and retains its original polychrome painted surface with remnants of luminous water-gilded detailing. Elevated on boldly scrolled tripod bases, the candlesticks feature sharply tapering columns with carved acanthus-form capitals and domed circular drip pans topped with original iron prickets. These ecclesiastical candlesticks exemplify the Swedish interpretation of the Baroque style—elegantly restrained yet richly expressive. Timeworn patina and surface distressing add to their authentic charm, telling the story of centuries of devotional use. Ideal as sculptural decorative accents or as atmospheric candleholders for a dramatic, historically resonant interior.
