About the Item

More information coming soon… Dating to the 1700s, this pair of French giltwood candlesticks are a towering 45 inches tall. The tripartite base consists of curled acanthus feet over tight volute whorls. The undulating columns are adorned with a variety of rings of beading and gadroon, leaf cups, and curled acanthus. Topped by a wide, saucer bobeche of beading over a flat leaf cup with an electric light source (although the electrification has been removed).

    Repaired: Traces of old touch-ups as a result of losses to gilding. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Good antique condition. Commensurate gilt losses, resulting in old touch-ups. Minor age separations. Light rubs and buildup. The candlesticks are no longer electrified and there is some wear to the faux candle sleeves, which can be replaced.
