About the Item
This company made the japanned and tinned ironwares for which Wolverhampton was famous. The red-painted tin wares were inspired by Japanese lacquered wood. Dresser's design, the 'Kordofan' candlestick, was retailed through Liberty in London. Dresser's association with the company came closest to his ideal of bringing distinguished design to the most modest domestic items. The candlestick carries the company's trademark and the words 'Dr Dresser's Design'.

This fine antique Victorian sterling silver Chamberstick (chamber candlestick) has a plain circular form in the George I style.
The well is plain and unembellished, encompassed with a plain elevated border.
The plain cylindrical capital retains the original detachable hallmarked sconce ornamented with a plain applied moulded border.
This antique chamberstick is fitted with a stylized Trefid pattern handle, embellished with two contemporary bright cut engraved crests of a squirrel sejant eating a nut to the right of an elephant and castle.
The underside of the handle features a decorative rounded socket.
