About the Item

Magnificent Austrian succession sterling silver massive candelabrum pair of seven-light figural museum. Each candelabra features a Grecian style man or woman in exceptional detail. On the base of each are three applied highly three-dimensional cameos framed with applied laurel leaf wreaths with bows at the bases of each figural cameo. The feet are figural design of the "North Wind." Each light can hold a removable glass bowl (one appears replaced, a few chips in some of the glass). It is not monogrammed and is in excellent overall museum quality condition. Please see all of the photos in the gallery to view the fabulous detail of these pieces. Weights are as follows: Male - 82.7 troy ounces = 2572.25 grams Female - 80.4 troy ounces. = 2500.72 grams Size: 25" tall x 15" wide = 63.5 cm tall x 38.1 cm wide Our research on the marks: "VC" mark, for the maker Vincenz Czokally. Prior to the business becoming Würbel & Czokally, Vincenz Czokally's mark was 'VC': The firm, first known as Vincenz Czokally, was founded by a silversmith of that name in 1864. They were prolific manufacturers of utilitarian flatware & hollowware, which were nevertheless high quality and quite elegant. The name was changed to Würbel & Czokally around 1896 when Czokally was succeeded by Karl Würbel, an engraver & modeller. Austrian 800 silver, circa 1867-1872. They are truly magnificent and display outstanding high relief detailing. Museum quality! We buy silver. Please inquire.
