About the Item

Over the centuries, Japan had developed a number of special alloys which could be patinated to produce an extraordinary
range of beautiful finishes. Combined with silver and gold, these alloys could create amazingly varied and intricate
decoration. With the banning of the Samurai sword in 1876, the best artisans soon adapted their pictorial style of decoration
to very fine decorative pieces
