About the Item
Monumental Antique French Art Nouveau Auguste Moreau garniture clock set. Made of bronze with gilt accents featuring a peasant woman and child carrying a shieth of wheat flanked by large candelabra urns featuring neoclassical stying with cherub / putti faces.
Auguste Moreau (1834 - 1917) was active/lived in France. Known for Art nouveau allegorical figure sculpture. Born in Paris in 1834, the youngest son of sculptor and painter Jean-Baptiste Moreau. He studied with his father and also under Aimé Millet, Augustin Drumont and Jean Thomas. Each of the three Moreau brothers - Hippolyte, Marthurin and Auguste - have become renowned for the quality and the beauty of their figurative sculpture.
