About the Item

A magnificent and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Sévres Porcelain, patinated Bronze and Ormolu garniture set. This stunning set consisting of a central clock and two candelabras are raised on wonderful Ormolu bases, with the clock displaying toupie shaped feet below a demi lune plinth accented with Sévres Porcelain plaques. Each five arm candelabra is raised by a stunning pierced scrolled foliate base with lovely floral accents and a beautiful and most decorative fitted hand painted Sèvres Porcelain plaque at the elegantly curved socle shaped pedestal support. At the center is a richly chased Ormolu reserve of musical instruments and floral garlands tied together with a bow, all below a most decorative lightly curved fitted Sèvres Porcelain plaque of a seated winged cherub painting and holding a palette. To each side are charming and richly chased cherubs one holding a lovely plaque and and a paint palette while the other is holding a lyre. Each candelabra displays a fine foliate support leads up behind the cherubs to the five stunning arms adorned with a superb array of richly chased leaves and blooming flowers leading to lovely floral candle cups. The enameled clock face displays cobalt blue Roman and Arabic numerals with fine pierced foliate designed ormolu hands. Above is a striking finely detailed urn with beautiful richly chased luxuriant overflowing flowers in a rich satin and burnished finish. All original gilt and patina throughout.

A Garniture de Chemineé in the Louis XVI taste By Arnold & Lewis (late Simmons) The mantle clock, and its two matched vases, are constructed in jewelled 'Sèvres' style porcelain, hand and polychrome decorated, with gilt highlights and finely gilt bronze.
