French 19th Century Napoleon III Period Boulle Clock

About the Item

A striking high quality French 19th century Napoleon III period ormolu, tortoiseshell, and brass inlaid Boulle clock. The clock is raised by handsome ormolu paw feet with acanthus leaves below the rectangular base. The base displays stunning intricately inlaid brass designs with most decorative scrolled foliate patterns set on a tortoiseshell background. Above the mottled egg and dart designed wrap around ormolu band is the beautiful arched shaped body. At the center is the impressive ormolu dial which displays enameled Roman numerals set within a richly chased background and hammered design. The case is decorated with stunning foliate brass inlays and charming richly chased ormolu swaging floral garlands tied with a central ribbon. All original gilt throughout.
