Jaeger Lecoultre Atmos Watch

About the Item

Jaeger Lecoultre Atmos Watch Atmos VI Table clock It works correctly. perpetual motion It has caliber 528 (1958-1968) The dial is square Materials Bronze and glass The patina is golden and has some minor natural wear. Origin Switzerland Circa 1960 Atmos is the commercial name of a mechanical watch manufactured by Jaeger-LeCoultre in Switzerland whose peculiarity is that it does not need to be wound to operate, as it takes energy from changes in ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure. Can operate for years without human intervention Its power source is a hermetically sealed capsule containing a chloroethane gas-liquid mixture that expands in an expansion chamber when the temperature rises, compressing a coil spring; When the temperature drops, the gas condenses and the spring decompresses.1 This constant movement winds the mainspring. A single degree of temperature variation in the range of 15 to 30 degrees Celsius or a pressure variation of 3 mmHg is enough to keep the watch operational for two days.2 For the watch to run with so little added energy, each piece of the mechanism must work with the least amount of friction possible. The regulating mechanism is a torsion pendulum, which consumes less energy than an ordinary pendulum. The torsion pendulum oscillates only twice per minute, which is 1/60 of the number of oscillations of a conventional pendulum clock.
