Louis XV Antique Boulle Clock Set Black Wood and Gild Bronze 19th century

About the Item

Amazing historicism clock ensemble in the style of Louis XV (late Baroque) with gorgeous architecture. This is a fine example of custom bronze work that is available on the antique market. Made in the second half of the 19th century, clock movement by Frédéric Japy (marked on cased), hand chased and gilt bronze décor of quality. Complete with 2 five-light candelabra, pendulum and key the clock itself stands on the included wooden base. Running and strikes on spring. Antique wooden clocks are always more valued than metal clocks due to their fragility and severe environment impact on the case (moisture, etc.). Antique desk mantel (shelf, desk) clock set with pair candelabra. Size clock itself app.: 53.4 cm (roughly 21 in) high, 39 cm (roughly 15.4 in) wide, 14.5 cm (roughly 5.7 in) deep. Size of the candelabra app.: 57 cm (roughly 22.4 in) high, 21 cm (roughly 8.3 in) wide and deep. Very good condition, minor age usage wear. The clock runs for a short time, then stops, not tested for functionality thus not guaranteed to work. The clock movement may need to be cleaned and adjusted. Please study high-res pictures for cosmetic condition! In person actual items may appear darker or brighter than in our pictures, strictly depending on sufficient light in your environment. Weight of app. 7 kg it is going to measure some 10 kg packed for shipment. The company was founded by Frédéric Japy (1749-1812). They became one of the major manufacturers of clock movements supplied to the French clockmaking industry, particularly for clocks housed in black Belgian slate cases in the second half of the nineteenth century. Japy Freres has created a new standard in the production of its clock movements. He was a pioneer in the "art" of industrialisation and manufacturing, not only watches/clocks, but of manufacturing in general.
