Unusual 19th Century French rotary Clock Garniture
About the Item
A rare and very fine 19th century French Louis XVI style ormolu mounted white marble 3-piece Rotary (Annular) clock set comprising a clock and a pair of 3 arms candelabra.
The urn shaped clock flanked by two Ram head handles, a patinated bronze cupid with a spear pointing at the time, raised on a rectangular base with gilt bronze mountings, standing on four ormolu legs.
The works by Dufaud, Paris,
circa 1870.
Dufaud is recorded as working at Rue de Saintonge in 1870 (Tardy, Dictionnaire des Horlogers Franc¸ais, Paris, p. 197).
