About the Item

A lovely 12" antique English iron clock dial dating from circa 1880. Reclaimed from the workshop of a crumbling works by our buyer, it bears the scars of a hard life. Beautifully patinated with an ancient craquelure, paint loss and rust. The fine, once blued steel hands have succumbed to many years of rust. A heavy, concave dial. Originally a mechanical fusee movement, this was damaged and mostly missing. Our clockmaker has skilfully fitted a quartz battery movement for ease and reliability, while retaining the beautiful original hands and winding shaft. A hanging bracket is fitted to the rear. Dial is scratched, chipped, rusted and neglected. We have clear coated it to lock in the patina. A unique timepiece for anywhere in your home. Measures: 12" in diameter.
