French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Ormolu Cartel Clock, by L. Marchand

About the Item

A stunning and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu cartel clock, by L. Marchand. The clock has a a fine berried and foliate bottom inverted finial and finely etched leaves, below four acorn finials. Above is a handsome and impressive lion's head in front of the display amidst a swaging drape design. Leading up each architectural side are pierced designs, lion paws, ram heads and fluted patterns. The beautiful enameled dial displays pierced scrolled ormolu hands and displays the signature L. Marchand A Paris, Rue Richelieu 57. The exceptional top crown displays a richly striking urn of prosperity.
