Edwardian Period Sterling Silver Wood-Backed Picture Fame
About the Item
Edwardian Period, sterling silver, wood-backed picture frame, Birmingham, England, year-hallmarked for 1917, Horton and Allday - makers. Retailed at F.H. Goulding - Goldsmith, in Plymouth, England. There is a sticker on the back of the frame, under wooden easel, that indicates that at one time, a photo that was displayed in the frame was framed by the Picture Framing Department at Boots Chemists. The frame stands almost 6 1/2 inches high x 4 1/2 inches wide x 3 inches deep (when easel is in open position). The frame will hold a photo that measures over 5 3/4 inches high x 3 1/2 inches wide. The frame window, which is oval in shape, will show almost 5 1/2 inches x 3 1/2 inches of that photo. Dark areas on sterling silver in photos are reflections. In very good antique condition.
