ARIA TOTEM I, by Rebeca Cors
Located in Ciudad de México, CDMX
I. About Rebeca Cors Rebeca Cors (México, 1988). Her work oscillates between sculpture and utility object, studying the limits and meeting points between these two concepts. The intention of her work is to question paradigms in order to reinterpret objects from It’s established forms.? As a result, her practice approaches sculpture as: Abstract Sculpture - and - Utility Sculpture. The materialized compositions embody simplicity and balance, inspired by anthropometric proportions and nature’s forms. Simplicity is not a lack of content – but  the synthesis of the complex. A balanced and simple composition conveys peace. The art work’s origin comes from a place of inner peace, the materials and hands that materialize the piece add the same intention – as a result, the works emanate and propagates this serenity. Human beings surround themselves with objects through their existence, some for simple necessity or function, and -these others- that virtuate the space they inhabit, transmitting emotions that words simple fall short to describe; emotions that lead us to a state of contemplative meditation, in which the world around us seems to disappear for an instant, time vanishes and we enter this intimate human-object ritual, where a dialogue with the sculptural piece begins, words are not necessary. All hand-made in Mexico. All Mexican...

Already in his early years (1948/1949) Erb set up his own studio in his hometown. During this time he created his first linear paper cuts, sculptures and "line drawings". In 1957, together with his teacher Boris Kleint and other young Saarland artists, he founded the "Neue Gruppe Saar", which counted itself among the avant-garde of the time. From about 1958 he began his structured "Line Pictures" and "Line Reliefs", which he u. a. 1958 in Düsseldorf as part of the 7th evening exhibition “Das rote Bild” by the ZERO group in Düsseldorf. In 1961 Erb moved to Paris, where he lived until 1975 and worked in the studio he built himself. Museum Quality Ceramic Sculpture, by Enric Mestre
Located in Antwerpen, VAN
Important, museum quality artwork by Enric Mestre, born 1936 in Valencia Spain. Published in the last monography that comes with the work. Mestre is recognized worldwide, won many international awards and has participated in numerous individual and collective exhibitions around the world. His sculptural objects seem sober spatial constructions: boxlike, slab built architectural structures of austere colours dominated by right angles. But appearances are deceptive: these objects have a poetic charm which saves them from only being rational and cold. Through dedication and commitment Mestre has pushed the technical boundaries of this demanding yet humble material, and helped elevate it to a sculptural art form in its own right. As one of the important artists of the Spanish school, his name is mentioned in the same breath as figures such as Jorge Oteiza...

Find Abstract Sculptures and Other Fine Sculptures for Your Home

Abstract sculpture has evolved over time with artists making a variety of striking statements in stone, bronze, ceramic and other materials. In the collection of abstract sculptures on 1stDibs, you are sure to find a piece that is perfect for your space.

When exploring how to arrange furniture and decor, consider color, texture and what kind of energy it should evoke. Abstract sculpture can elevate any home through its many decorative possibilities.

Auguste Rodin is often called the father of modern sculpture for his pioneering naturalistic forms and figures that vividly express emotion. His work in the 19th and early 20th centuries broke with artistic conventions and inspired modernism, leading to a new period of avant-garde abstraction.

Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque were among the first artists to push abstract sculpture into the mainstream. They helped define the Cubism movement, which focused on deconstructing the world abstractly. Other 20th-century artistic movements, including Italian Futurism, Dadaism, Neo-Dadaism, Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism and Minimalism, all contributed to the advancement of abstract sculpture. Italian Futurism, for example, celebrated movement, dynamics and technology in abstract sculpture. These movements continue to inform abstract sculpture today.

With abstract art — sculpture, painting or a grouping of prints — a work can complement a living room, dining room or other space, or it can act as a bold focal point.

Browse a range of modern abstract sculptures, postmodern abstract sculptures and other sculptures on 1stDibs.
