About the Item

Abstract Wooden Wall Art , Women Figure by Cor Dam The Netherlands Delft 1958 About Cor Dam Cor Dam (Delft, April 26, 1935 – July 29, 2019) trained at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and the T.U. in Delft, design of sculpting techniques. From 1950 to 1965 he worked as a designer at De Porceleyne Fles in Delft, then until 1980 at Keramische Ateliers Structuur 68 b.v. in The Hague and from 1988 as a teacher of Free Modeling at De VAK in Delft. In his youth, Cor already modeled, drew and pasted at kindergarten and has always continued to do so. Of all his interests, drawing, painting and sculpture ultimately won out. Cor Dam had great admiration for the work of Henri Moore (1898-1986), but was also inspired by the images of Constantin Brâncuşi (1876-1957), Jacques Lipchitz (1891-1973) and Hans Arp (1887-1966). Both his sculptures and paintings have much in common. They are characterized by geometric motifs, of which the triangle is the most important. This is always reflected in his works in different designs and in various colors
