About the Item

Gabriel Morera (Venezuela, 20th Century), Untitled, Box, Mixed Media, unsigned, blue and orange painted handled case, opening to a divided interior with colorful Lucite cubes, mirrored paper, and glass. Gabriel Morera was a Venezuelan artist that explored informalism, surrealism, and pop themes in his paintings and sculpture. Central features of his work include his retablos, magical objects, the interplay of mirrors and the use of the color blue, his evocations of Alexandria, the presence of the house and its facade, the Trinity, and the flight of a bird.
