About the Item

Vintage serpentine forged bronze sculpture features petal shaped sconce compartment that allows it to be used as a candle holder, supported by freestyle shaped tendrils and stems. The piece is a part of series of sculptural candle holders and wine racks that Brubacker created for galleries in USA and in Europe; the series is not currently in production. The piece is in good vintage condition with rich, beautiful, age-appropriate patina; it is signed by the artist in stamp on the base. Jack Brubacker is an established American artist. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, Syracuse University School of Art (BFA), and Indiana University (MFA) and led the blacksmithing program at The American College of the Building Arts in Charleston SC. For over 50years he was running his forge studio, creating decorative and architectural ironwork that was represented by multiple galleries nationwide and abroad. Brubacker was involved in Artist Blacksmith Association of North America since attending the first ABANA Conference in Lumpkin GA in 1974; he's currently a member of the ABANA Board of Directors and a past president. In 1980 he was a co-founder of the Indiana Blacksmithing Association and its first president; he was a founding member of the Brown County Craft Gallery in Indiana and served on the board of American Craft Enterprises, an arm of the American Craft Council.
