Large Organic Ceramic Floor Sculpture by Fernando Marquina Large
About the Item
Large organic floor sculpture sculpted by the South American artist Fernando Marquina looks like an armoured creature from the natural world of the Jurassic period. It is characterized by the distinctive circular cone shaped upright spikes around its bulbous form. Are the spikes and spines used as a defence mechanism, or an attack? The muted browns and blues in the glaze add to it flesh like appearance of this object. Fernando Marquina was born in South America and studied ceramics and fine art in Germany where he lived and worked and made this intriguing statue in Berlin.
The sculpture was in the private collectionl of his Berlin galerist.
