About the Item
Lifted Flow - Abstract Black Ceramic Sculpture by Rachel Peters, UK, In Stock.
In Lifted Flow, Rachel Peters sculpts movement into form, creating a rhythm of soft, ascending shapes that feel both grounded and rising. Coiled by hand in richly textured black grogged stoneware, the sculpture is left unglazed to preserve the natural tactility of the clay, enhancing its quiet strength and raw beauty.
The work unfolds through a slow, intuitive process. Its gently rising silhouette suggests a steady upward momentum, echoing ideas of energy, vibration, and resonance. Each curve holds space with calm presence, forming a visual rhythm that invites stillness and contemplation.
Part of an ongoing series exploring unseen forces and emotional resilience, Lifted Flow invites touch, reflection, and a sense of quiet connection.
Rooted in the traditions of hand-building and guided by the clarity of Danish design, it reflects Peters’ sensitivity to material and form, balancing minimalism with expressive depth.

Rachel Peters Ceramics
Inspired by the clean lines and natural materials of Danish design, Rachel seeks to create works that are both beautiful and calming. She finds harmony in soft forms, biomorphic shapes, and muted colours, allowing the materiality of the clay to shine through. Originally from the UK, Rachel’s journey with clay began as a reawakening after a career in social work and a life-changing move to South Africa. Now based back in the UK, her studio is a sanctuary for exploration and self-expression. ‘Clay is my therapy, my meditation, my connection to the earth. It is a reminder that even in the chaos of life, there is beauty to be found in the simple act of creation.’ Hand-built through coiling, her vessels and sculptures are a testament to slow, meditative craftsmanship. The focus is on form and texture – elegant shapes that need no decoration, adorned with the subtle nuances of grogged stoneware and a muted palette. Each piece is a tactile invitation to mindfulness and appreciation for the earth's raw beauty. Since launching her first collection, Rachel’s work has been widely exhibited in galleries in the UK, Europe and Canada. She has shown her work at prestigious events including Ceramic Art London and has been selected for publication in 100 Emerging Artworks Women’s Edition 2024 hosted by Arts to Hearts Project.
