The gemstone was associated with moral ideas such as clarity of mind, purity of spirit, and virtuousness by Confucian schools of thought, becoming coveted by aristocracy for these values. As they believed jade to be indestructible, it became a symbol of immortality and was used to make ritual objects such as bi discs and talismans worn by royalty, in the hopes that it would impart its immortal qualities on to its owner.

Robert Kuo

Robert Kuo’s story bridges the gap between ancient Chinese and 21st century traditions. He gained technical expertise and learned about decorative tradition from hands on training. He soon mastered the basics that would serve him throughout his artistic career. Robert Kuo offers a wide variety of decorative objects, from small tabletop pieces to furniture and large landscaping elements. The work can be seen around the world, from the National History Museum in Taipei to exclusive hotels such as the Singapore Ritz-Carlton, The Four Seasons New York and some of the most exclusive homes in the world.
