About the Item

Zimmermann is one of the founding fathers of studio glass in Germany and was one of the first glass artists, to work on free sculptural objects. His so called "Wabenobjekte" are inspired by honeycombs, pine cones, snail shells, etc. Being educated in the coldworking studio of his parents, havinf studied Design and Glassmaking, having worked for the Glasi in Hergiswil, the W.M.F. glass studio in Geislingen and many more, he is a skillfull coldworker and glassblower. One of his trademarks is blowing glass through a grid of metal wires, resulting in patterns of bubbles and threads within his objects. He brought studio glass to the curriculum of the Stuttgart University, teaching there since 1984. Since the turn of the Millennium, color became a very important factor in his work. This small object has a nice palette in shades of grey and blue. Zimmermanns works are located in collections worldwide. This is the chance to own a small but cute one of a kind work by him for a rather small price.
